Travelling with family is rarely an easy experience. Lots of things can go wrong, including misplacing passports, individuals getting lost in transit while trying to figure out transportation options, hotel rooms not being as large as anticipated, and so on. Travelling with very young children has its own set of problems, especially if you have to travel long distances to get to your hotel, various attractions, or the airport. The rooms may have to be child-proofed to be ready for an infant, and you'll need specific child-friendly services to help you get some time off from worrying about the kids to enjoy your vacation.

The Merrion Hotel

The No. 1 hotel in Dublin

The Merrion Hotel is considered one of the best family hotels in Dublin by many, and we don't disagree. It has the best spa, which is great for moms, and provides every imaginable service for kids.

It also features large rooms, which is great for a family. Babysitting and childcare services are available to give parents a break to relax together or with adult friends. Packed lunches and car hire is available for those who want to make a day trip. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. Children under the age of 2 years can stay free, either in existing beds or with a crib or cot.

Chic and stylish hotel with luxury design

This contemporary hotel located by the Dublin Grand canal features well-equipped rooms, luxury design, and beautiful furniture. Ask for a room with a view of the canal for some picture-perfect moments. A wonderful bar and restaurant can be found on the rooftop, the Marker's high-quality spa, a stunning 23-meter infinity pool and well-equipped gym add to the positive experience.

Children under the age of 2 can stay free in a cot or crib. Special diet menus are available on request.

The Spencer Hotel

Top-notch hotel

The Spencer Hotel is just generally a terrific hotel, whether you're travelling with family or not. Guests can be assured of good value for money. The rooms are a decent size, and there also family rooms available, with interconnecting kids' rooms, or a junior family suite. In a family room, you get a queen sized bed and a double sofa bed, which is ideal for accommodating two adults and two young children. If you have an interconnecting room, the master bedroom has a king sized bed, while the adjoining kids' room has twin beds. Many of the family rooms have a private balcony offering beautiful views.

They also have a work and play area with special deck chairs. Apart from this, there are numerous kid-friendly activities available in Dublin, which the staff can suggest and arrange bookings or tickets for, where necessary. Special children's menus are on offer with all dining options at the hotel. Children also get special hours at the indoor pool. The location, not too far off from the city center, is also ideal to make commuting to the various attractions less stressful.

InterContinental Dublin

Luxury 5 star hotel

The InterContinental Dublin is a well-known luxury hotel located amidst beautifully landscaped gardens in Ballsbridge. Nearby, one can find the embassies of several countries and various stately homes. The city center, however, is quite far off. This is an area renowned for its quiet tranquility.

This level of service can be invaluable when travelling with kids. The rooms are spacious, which is perfect for families. Breakfast can be taken in the room. Babysitting and childcare services are available, and packed lunches are on offer for those who want to spend the day sightseeing. Children under the age of 12 can stay free in the existing beds, and children aged under 2 years can stay free in a crib or cot. Pets are allowed for no extra fee.

Radisson BLU Royal Hotel Dublin

Perfect business class hotel, a stone's throw from Dublin Castle

The Radisson BLU Royal Hotel Dublin is ideal for discerning guests seeking uncompromised quality of service in addition to a convenient base from which they can discover Dublin. From here, you can spend all day exploring the city center and come home to a guaranteed good nights' sleep and an excellent breakfast the next day. Apart from offering stylish quarters, it is generally comfortable.

The Radisson BLU Royal Hotel is located very close to Grafton Street and the Temple Bar area but in the calmer and more residential part of the city center, you will not be disturbed by noise late at night, which is an excellent bonus.

With Radisson's spotless quality, central location, spacious rooms and suites, luxurious baths and showers, it is sure to please. The hotel is clean, quiet, and unobtrusive. The rooftop terrace is very charming. The only disadvantage is that there is no spa or fitness area in the hotel, to make up for this, guests are given free access to a gym center nearby.

The Schoolhouse Hotel

Great value boutique hotel

The Schoolhouse Hotel will probably have the kids groaning at the mere mention of its name, but they will be pleasantly surprised. While the hotel takes its name from its origins as a schoolhouse, in its present incarnation, it is far more enjoyable. Spacious suites for reasonable prices are on offer.

Better yet, it is not too far away from the city with its myriad attractions. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and the hotel offers many nice facilities. Parents will enjoy the wonderful in-house pub while taking advantage of the babysitting service. Special menus are available on request, and breakfast can be taken in the room. Free WiFi and public parking is available as well. Children aged under 5 can use existing beds and stay free of charge, while cribs or cots can be assigned to children under the age of 2.

Radisson BLU St. Helen's Hotel

5 star hotel just outside Dublin

The Radisson BLU St. Helen's Hotel is also away from the city center but provides excellent facilities and has plenty of space to move around in, with 40 acres of gardens surrounding the building.

The generous room size is a boon for families to keep them from feeling crowded in together. A family room is available for two adults and two children. There are also suites on offer if more space is needed. Children aged under 12 years stay free if no extra beds are needed, and those under 2 can get a crib or cot while staying free.

Clontarf Castle Hotel

Dublin's only castle hotel

The Clontarf Castle is Dublin's only castle hotel, it's history can be traced to a 12th century keep. The exterior hints at a medieval background, but the present building dates back to the 18th century. If you're seeking a high-quality hotel in Dublin that is not overpriced and offers a fine pub and restaurant, not to mention a bit of history, this is the perfect hotel for you.

The Clontarf Castle is based in a quiet neighborhood, so there are fewer chances for disruption or noise waking up gentle sleepers. Rather large rooms are offered, which is great for families.

Children under 12 can stay free in existing beds, while those under 2 stay free when using a cot or crib. Activities can include a castle treasure hunt for the kids, a day trip to Dublin Zoo or Viking Splash Tour, exploring Bull Island Nature Reserve, a full Irish breakfast each morning and dinner in the evening.
